Show 280: Latitude The Musical, July 17th, Latitude Festival

Griselda and David, and their three offspring, have gone to the Latitude Festival, despite their crumbling marriage.  Three Australians are waiting to see their hero, Adam Ant.  Melinda has a thing for older men and after a chance meeting with David in the poetry forest accompanied by a strange performance poet, it seems love is blossoming.  But Adam Ant’s post-concert words touch his heart and he realises he’s still in love with Griselda. Melinda’s ok with it, she’s managed to get tickets to Adam Ant’s concert in Melbourne. After all, ridicule is nothing to be scared of.

Show 279: Bars!, July 15th, Corn Exchange Newbury

Colditz, and the Captain and Daphne have been interned for 4 years. But with the help of the slightly loony Spotty, Browning and an arrogant American with a Harley Davidson made out of loo rolls, they escape to Holland.  But Spotty, pining for home, has turned traitor and sold them out to the Germans. Spotty sacrifices herself, but too late and they all end up back in Colditz.  But can their spirit be broken, or will they make one last bid for freedom, and a cockney knees up back in the good old East End?

Edinburgh Fringe – Year Four

Showstopper! returns to Edinburgh for a fourth year of conquering the Fringe with improvised musical joy.

We’re back in the same place and at the same time as last year: Gilded Balloon at 10.50pm, from 5-28 August (except 17 August). There are also family-friendly matinees at 3.20pm on Tuesdays 9, 16 & 23 August.

Tickets are selling fast (this is no marketing puff, they really are selling three times as quickly as 2010) so do book now here to avoid disappointment.

Show 278: Birth of the Future, July 8th, The Junction, Cambridge

There were bound to be sparks when Dr Cartwright who loves science and Midwife Fortesque who loves nature met.  In trying to help the Willises finally have a child after 7 years of waiting, scientific advances compete with nature and the strength of the mother-child bond. But love and hate are separated by a thin line, and the sparks soon become sparks of romance…

Show 277: A Bloody Great Hole, July 1st, Key Theatre Peterborough

Veronica and Matilda have travelled from Peterborough University to Tanzania with their guide Hank to Ngoro Ngoro, the great meteorite crater in search of Brind Dust. But local twins Nkela and Bobo have been sent into the crater by Mama in order for Nkela to become a woman and goddess.  Science and magic collide in a moasonite village – the crystals put stars in Matilda and Bobo’s eyes, and Veronica’s heart is captured by Hank. Home is where the heart is and they are all the sons “of rage and love”.
