Fans of Showstopper – if you fancy watching your favourite musical improvisers turn themselves into jelly in an extraordinary comedy marathon, then let us introduce to you: The 2012 London Improvathon!
This is an incredible 50-hour comedy soap opera set at the time of the first Olympics in 2012 BC (this is deeply historically inaccurate). Fifty international stars of improv congregate at Hoxton Hall in Shoreditch, London for a combination of endurance test, theatrical event and euphoric comedy bonanza the like of which you haven’t seen before (unless you came in one of the last four years…).
It starts Friday May 11 at 7pm and goes on until Sunday May 13th 9pm – 25 2-hour episodes of ’2012 BC: Tales from the Greek Games’ – improv comedy directed live by Showstopper creator Adam Meggido, and featuring characters played by most of the other Showstoppers plus a huge bunch of others from the UK, Canada, Norway, India, Austria and Australia. And Holland. Others will probably show up.
You can pop in at any odd-numbered hour – 7pm, 9pm, 11pm, 1am, 3am, you get the picture. Every two hour episode starts with the characters introducing themselves, so you’ll know exactly what is going on and can join in the fun.
Go to www.improvathon.co.uk to find out more about it and to get tickets. We hope to see you there!
